Q: I want First Aid training and also want to get a certification at my Rancho Cordova business or home.  Can I do that?

A: Yes, we teach ASHI and American Red Cross First Aid certification courses in Rancho Cordova. People often think CPR and First Aid are the same things, but they aren’t. 1st aid training covers many of the everyday medical issues we all deal with: burns, bleeding, falls, asthma, fainting – as well as topics like stroke, seizures and heart attacks. Everyone should take a first aid class because these are medical issues you’re most likely to encounter.

Q: I was told I need a BLS CPR class for my work in Rancho Cordova. What is BLS?

A: We instruct American Heart Association’s BLS Provider CPR classes in Rancho Cordova.  It’s a confusing class name and often gets spoken or written in shorter or longer versions of the official title.  It’s the CPR certification for everyone who works in healthcare or is a healthcare student.  BLS stands for “Basic Life Support”. The title “Healthcare” was recently removed from the name, so you will see “BLS for Healthcare Providers” still printed as the name of the course – and we still include it in our website to cue people in that it’s the class for healthcare professionals.

Q: I want to take an Rancho Cordova infant CPR class, but do not need a CPR certification. Do you offer that?

A: Yes, we offer custom, non-certification infant and toddler First Aid & CPR courses in Rancho Cordova for new and expecting parents. Unlike a certification class, the context is flexible, so our instructor can cover the topics most important to you and your family. We typically focus on airway issues: choking, drowning, seizures, allergic reactions and suffocation because these are the most common reasons to be performing pediatric CPR. First Aid topics such as bleeding, burns, poisoning, and falls are also covered. Preventing these issues from happening is also a focus.

Q: What is the EMSA required certification for my Rancho Cordova childcare staff?

A: We instruct American Red Cross Pediatric First Aid CPR AED courses for state licensed daycare, preschool and childcare centers. This, along with the American Heart Association’s certification, are the EMSA’s referred Pediatric First Aid CPR AED certifications for Rancho Cordova.

Q: Do you sell AEDs to your Rancho Cordova clients?

A: Yes.  We offer discounted prices on AEDs and AEDs accessories for our First Aid, BLS and ACLS and CPR Rancho Cordova class clients. More and more businesses are purchasing AEDs because the manufacturing costs have dropped. Feel free to ask us about buying an AED.

Q: Do you offer Rancho Cordova ASHI CPR certification classes?

A: Yes, the American Health and Safety Institute’s (ASHI) certifications fulfill OSHA requirements for construction and other industries. We offer Rancho Cordova ASHI First Aid CPR AED certification classes that award all students a two year certification. We also offer Red Cross and American Heart Association certification classes in Rancho Cordova.

Q: How long are your Rancho Cordova first aid and CPR classes?

A: First aid certification classes are 2.5 hours. CPR AED certification classes are 2.5 hours. If you have more than eight people for your CPR class, plan on 3 hours. Since there is some overlap in the course material between the two segments, plan on 4.5 to 5 hours. There is another approach called blended learning that results in the same certification. Your group does some of the course online ahead of time. Then our instructor comes to your group in Rancho Cordova for the hands-on practice portion of the class called a skills session. A CPR skills session takes about 1 hour. First aid adds another hour.

Q: My last CPR class was so boring! Please tell me your classes aren’t like that!

A: All of our instructors take pride in the quality of their Rancho Cordova CPR, BLS and First Aid classes. They’re all EMTs, RNs and Paramedics, so all of them have taken many classes over the years. They know just how agonizing it is to sit through a poorly taught CPR class. They strive to interact with you and encourage you to ask the questions about the topics that are particularly important to you. Whether it’s seizures, asthma, high blood pressure, diabetes or just recognizing when to call 911, our instructors will give you a depth of understanding you likely haven’t received in a class before.

My family had the pleasure of having Chris teach us a class that, in my opinion, is not an option if you choose to have children – it’s mandatory.

Lori Costabile

I recently completed a CPR class with Chris, and I urge anyone who is interested in taking a CPR class to take Chris’ class; you’ll be happy you did. Chris is a natural teacher, and he has an easy going and very likable personality.
