Frequently Asked Questions About Berkeley CPR Classes

Q: I’m interested in having you teach a class at my business or home in Berkeley. How do I schedule that?

A: Contact us if you’re ready to schedule a CPR, BLS or First Aid class at your Berkeley business or home or if you have questions about what class you need. We teach ASHI and American Red Cross Certification classes for CPR AED, First Aid and Pediatric First Aid. We also instruct American Heart Association certification classes for healthcare professionals: BLS for Healthcare Providers and ACLS. We also teach non-certification infant CPR and First Aid classes for new and expecting parents. In short, we bring all of the training and audio/visual equipment to your location – you just need to provide a room for our class. If you know which class you need, contact us with a couple dates and start times that work for your group. We have many mobile instructors, so we will find a day/start time that works for both of us.

Q: When I think of first aid, I think of how to handle bleeding and burns, but I know it must include more, right?

A: The first aid training classes we teach in Berkeley cover much more than cut and burns. We instruct American Red Cross First Aid and ASHI certification courses. They include responding to seizures, broken bones, strokes, heart attacks, allergic reactions, how to use an epi-pen, poisonings, and temperature-related emergencies. We also offer pediatric first aid classes for licensed childcare centers in Berkeley and non-certification infant first aid classes for new and expecting parents.

Q: I work in healthcare in Berkeley. Am I required to take a BLS class?

A: If you work in healthcare or are a healthcare student, you are required to have a BLS Provider certification. California hospitals and clinics follow American Heart Association CPR class guidelines and often require a BLS Provider certification — and will not accept any other organization’s certification. Other healthcare industries that require BLS certifications include dentists, physical and occupational therapists. We always instruct American Heart Association BLS certification classes in Berkeley offices.

Q: Is there a minimum of people needed to schedule a Berkeley infant CPR class at my home?

A: There is no minimum number of people needed to schedule an infant CPR class with us. Your baby can be present during class, too. We’re available seven days a week to come to you, including evenings. All of our instructors are medical professionals such as Paramedics and EMTs.

Q: What is the difference between Infant CPR and Child CPR in a Berkeley CPR certification class?

A: Infants are defined as one-year-old and under in a First Aid & CPR class. A child Is one-year-old up to puberty. Pediatric First Aid & CPR classes for licensed childcare facilities in Berkeley cover child CPR and infant CPR. Adult CPR is also covered because the most often CPR performed is on adults because of cardiac issues.

Q: My last CPR class was so boring! Please tell me your classes aren’t like that!

A: All of our instructors take pride in the quality of their CPR, BLS and First Aid classes when we instruct in Berkeley. They’re all EMTs, RNs and Paramedics, so all of them have taken many classes over the years. They know just how agonizing it is to sit through a poorly taught CPR class. They strive to interact with you and encourage you to ask questions about the topics that are particularly important to you. Whether it’s seizures, asthma, high blood pressure, diabetes or just recognizing when to call 911, our instructors will give you a depth of understanding you likely haven’t received in a class before.

Q: Are you now issuing eCards for CPR certifications in Berkeley?

A: Yes, eCards are now replacing the traditional paper CPR certification cards in Berkeley. It’s a much better approach in our opinion. Over the years we have replaced hundreds of lost or destroyed CPR cards. With eCards you always have access to your First Aid and CPR certification. Your certification can be printed like a traditional paper card or it can be downloaded as a PDF file. You can email your CPR card to whoever needs to verify your certification.

Q: Do you offer Berkeley ASHI CPR certification classes?

A: Yes, the American Health and Safety Institute’s (ASHI) certifications fulfill OSHA requirements for construction and other industries. We offer Berkeley ASHI First Aid CPR AED certification classes that award all students a two-year certification. We also offer Red Cross and American Heart Association certification classes in Berkeley.

As an independent businesswoman, it was refreshing to work with someone who believes as I do:that punctuality, professionalism, kindness, and good customer relations are worthy goals to achieve.

My family had the pleasure of having Chris teach us a class that, in my opinion, is not an option if you choose to have children – it’s mandatory.

Lori Costabile

I recently completed a CPR class with Chris, and I urge anyone who is interested in taking a CPR class to take Chris’ class; you’ll be happy you did. Chris is a natural teacher, and he has an easy going and very likable personality.
