Frequently Asked Questions About Sunnyvale CPR Classes

Q: A CPR class at my Sunnyvale office or home?  How do I schedule that?

A: Feel free to contact us with any questions you have. When you have a date or two in mind, contact us and we will get your class scheduled. Since most people only do First Aid and CPR certification classes every two years, it can be difficult to remember the name of the class you need and which organization’s certification is required for your business in Sunnyvale.  Just ask us.  Part of our job is to know the CPR and First Aid certification requirements for different industries. We are familiar with OSHA, county dental societies, healthcare provider CPR requirements and the EMSA.

Q: I did an online-only BLS CPR renewal certification class and my Sunnyvale work supervisor rejected it.  Why!?

A: Never do an online-only BLS certification class. Those certifications are not accepted by any healthcare organization.  And they shouldn’t be!  You need to practice the skills of that course to be able to perform them in a real medical emergency.  We teach the American Heart Association’s BLS Provider CPR certification course.  It’s the required certification for anyone who works in a clinic or hospital in Sunnyvale.  The AHA now has an approach called, “blended learning” that allows you to do a lot of the course online, but you still need to have a BLS “skills session” with an instructor.  It’s usually 1 to 1.5 hours of hands-on practice time with the CPR manikins, AED trainers and BVMs.  It results in the same BLS certification as doing the entire course in-person with an instructor.  Ask us about blended learning.

Q: Do you teach First Aid Training in Sunnyvale?

A: Yes, we offer American Red Cross First Aid certification classes in Sunnyvale.  People know they should take a CPR class, but first aid training is often overlooked. Eventually all of us either experience or respond to bleeding, burns, falls and broken bones.  It’s good to know how to properly respond when a loved one needs your help or you need to help yourself.

Q: Do you teach ACLS classes in Sunnyvale?

A: Yes, our ACLS instructors are experienced paramedics who really enjoy teaching.  We can do the entire ACLS course at your facility or we can show how you can do most of the ACLS course online and then we can come to your Sunnyvale business or home to do a one hour ACLS skills session.

Q: Which professions are required to get a Sunnyvale BLS certification – the CPR certification for healthcare professionals?

A: First off, always ask us if you’re not sure which certification you or staff is required to have.  We know CPR certification job requirements.  These professions are required to have a BLS certification in Sunnyvale: RN, CNA, Medical Assistant, Dentist, Dental Hygienist, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Respiratory Therapist, Medical Technician, EMT, Paramedic.

Q: What is the EMSA required certification for my Sunnyvale childcare staff?

A: We instruct the American Red Cross Pediatric First Aid CPR AED course for state licensed daycare, preschool and childcare centers in Sunnyvale. This, along with the American Heart Association’s certification, are the EMSA’s referred Pediatric First Aid CPR AED certifications.

Q: Do you teach infant CPR classes at Sunnyvale homes?

A: Yes, we do.  We also teach them at hospitals like California Pacific Medical Center.  Our CPR Essentials course is a non-certification course that covers infant CPR and airway issues such as choking, drowning, suffocation, seizures and allergies.  We also cover basic first aid topics such as bleeding, burns and falls.

Q: What backgrounds do your instructors have? What is their teaching style?

A: All In Home CPR training instructors are EMTs, RNs, Paramedics or medical students.  Our instructing style is interactive – questions are encouraged!  We want you to leave your Sunnyvale First Aid, CPR or BLS class feeling that you had your questions answered and feel confident you can respond to a medical emergency.

Q: I’m not sure which certification I need!  Can you help me?

A: Absolutely!  We know the First Aid, BLS, CPR and ACLS requirements for all industries.  It’s our job to make you receive the right certification so you’re in compliance with your industry requirements.  We know OSHA, EMSA and hospital requirements for Sunnyvale.  Feel free to contact us and we’re more than happy to work with you to make sure you’re taking the correct certification class.

Q: I want to get CPR certified, but I heard there is a written test.  Is that true?

A: There is no written test to get CPR certified in Sunnyvale.  For American Red Cross CPR certification courses focus on understand skills via a DVD and the instructor, along with plenty of hands-on practice.

As an independent businesswoman, it was refreshing to work with someone who believes as I do: that punctuality, professionalism, kindness, and good customer relations are worthy goals to achieve. And Chris certainly achieved them. When I first contacted him, I was struck by his kindness and his professionalism. He treated my questions and concerns with aplomb. He called to remind me of our appointment, a much appreciated act, as it shows the attention to detail that I admire. And, finally, while giving the course, he kindly yet thoroughly covered the material, and ensured that I understood it, both in theory and in practice. In short, Chris was a treasure to work with, and I look forward to next year when I can work with him again.

My family had the pleasure of having Chris teach us a class that, in my opinion, is not an option if you choose to have children – it’s mandatory.

I recently completed a CPR class with Chris, and I urge anyone who is interested in taking a CPR class to take Chris’ class; you’ll be happy you did. Chris is a natural teacher, and he has an easy going and very likable personality.
