Frequently Asked Questions About Kensington CPR Classes

Q: What is the advantage of having a CPR class at my business? Currently, we send our staff to a local classroom in Kensington with scheduled CPR classes.

A: Most of our instructors are EMTs and Paramedics who have years of arriving at businesses via a 911 call. It’s not uncommon for them to find the victim’s co-workers panicking, disorganized and sometimes even arguing about how to help. When company employees do not train together, they’re frequently not on the same page about how to respond. When we come to your Kensington business for a First Aid, CPR or BLS class, we will train your staff how to respond as a group in your office. It’s the best way to prepare your staff to provide First Aid or CPR for a coworker.

Q: What are the qualifications of the instructors who will be coming to my Kensington home or business for my CPR class?

A: All of our instructors are medical professionals. Most have worked professionally in ambulances as EMTs and Paramedics. We also have RNs. All of them take pride in the quality of their Kensington First Aid, CPR and BLS classes. Our classes are interactive and questions are encouraged, so ask our instructors to give you extra knowledge on the First Aid and CPR topics most important to you.

Q: CPR training is important. What about including First Aid training in my Kensington class?

A: We agree! Everyone knows that CPR and using an AED are life-saving skills. However, a Kensington first aid training class will prepare you for the most common medical emergencies: choking, bleeding, burns, using an epi-pen. Responding to cold and heat emergencies. Broken bones, seizures and allergic reactions. We teach First Aid and CPR AED certification classes combination classes, too.

Q: I’ve heard there is a particular CPR certification requirement for healthcare professionals in Kensington. What is that certification?

A: If you work in healthcare you need a different CPR certification than what people in non-medical jobs need. We instruct the American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR certification for Kensington. Clinics and hospitals in California follow AHA guidelines, so they usually require the AHA’s BLS certification.  If you work in EMS (EMT, Paramedic) the Red Cross’ BLS certification is usually accepted as well.

Q: My baby is starting to eat solid foods. Is choking covered in an Kensington infant CPR class if you come to my home?

A: Yes, for infant CPR classes our focus is teaching you to recognize and respond to airway issues: choking, drowning, suffocation, seizures and allergic reactions. Fortunately, it’s rare to do CPR on an infant, but when it happens, often the cause is lack of oxygen. We bring all of the training equipment to Kensington home for infant CPR classes at a time that is convenient for you and your family.

Q: What is the EMSA required certification for my Kensington childcare staff?

A: We instruct American Red Cross Pediatric First Aid CPR AED courses for state licensed daycare, preschool and childcare centers. This, along with the American Heart Association’s certification, are the EMSA’s referred Pediatric First Aid CPR AED certifications for Kensington.

Q: I want to get CPR certified, but I heard there is a written test. Is that true?

A: There is no written test to get CPR certified in Kensington. ASHI and American Red Cross CPR certification courses focus on understanding skills via a DVD and the instructor, along with plenty of hands-on practice.

Q: I see you offer CPR AED certification classes for Kensington. What does AED mean?

A: We have all seen a person being defibrillated with paddles on TV medical shows. With advances in technology, now everybody can use a defibrillator called an AED – Automated External Defibrillator. When the AED is turned on it talks the user through what to do. Instead of paddles, sticky pads are applied to the victim’s chest and then the AED analyzes the victim to determine if they need a shock to get their heart beating normally. They are surprisingly easy to use and widely available for the public to use in airports, malls, gyms and sports stadiums. For our CPR AED classes in Kensington, we bring practice AEDs so you will be prepared to use one if needed.

Q: Who are the instructors teaching your ACLS classes in Kensington?

A: Our ACLS instructors are paramedics who know the ACLS class material extremely well from experience! We will also give you resources to prepare for your ACLS class. Feel free to contact us and ask questions on how to set up an Kensington ACLS class with us.

My family had the pleasure of having Chris teach us a class that, in my opinion, is not an option if you choose to have children – it’s mandatory.

Lori Costabile

I recently completed a CPR class with Chris, and I urge anyone who is interested in taking a CPR class to take Chris’ class; you’ll be happy you did. Chris is a natural teacher, and he has an easy going and very likable personality.
