Frequently Asked Questions About Contra Costa County CPR Classes
Q: What is the advantage of having a CPR class at my business? Currently, we send our staff to a local classroom in Contra Costa County with scheduled CPR classes.
A: Most of our instructors are EMTs and Paramedics who have years of arriving at businesses via a 911 call. It’s not uncommon for them to find the victim’s co-workers panicking, disorganized and sometimes even arguing about how to help. When company employees do not train together, they’re frequently not on the same page about how to respond. When we come to your Contra Costa County business for a First Aid, CPR or BLS class, we will train your staff how to respond as a group in your office. It’s the best way to prepare your staff to provide First Aid or CPR for a coworker.
Q: I’ve seen 1st Aid Training and First Aid Training for Contra Costa County. Is there a difference?
A: No, those are the same thing. We instruct the American Red Cross First Aid and ASHI certification courses. However, if your group in Contra Costa County doesn’t need a First Aid certification class, we can create a custom class that suits your needs. We teach many non-certification infant first aid classes for new and expecting parents at their homes.
Q: I’ve heard there is a particular CPR certification requirement for healthcare professionals in Contra Costa County. What is that certification?
A: If you work in healthcare you need a different CPR certification than what people in non-medical jobs need. We instruct the American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR certification for Contra Costa County. Clinics and hospitals in California follow AHA guidelines, so they usually require the AHA’s BLS certification. If you work in EMS (EMT, Paramedic) the Red Cross’ BLS certification is usually accepted as well.
Q: I want to take an Contra Costa County infant CPR class, but do not need a CPR certification. Do you offer that?
A: Yes, we offer custom, non-certification infant and toddler First Aid & CPR courses in Contra Costa County for new and expecting parents. Unlike a certification class, the context is flexible, so our instructor can cover the topics most important to you and your family. We typically focus on airway issues: choking, drowning, seizures, allergic reactions and suffocation because these are the most common reasons to be performing pediatric CPR. First Aid topics such as bleeding, burns, poisoning, and falls are also covered. Preventing these issues from happening is also a focus.
Q: We need a First Aid class in Contra Costa County for our preschool. How do we make sure we’re fulfilling our licensing requirements?
A: We will make sure you’re getting the correct First Aid certification class for your daycare or preschool. We know the EMSA’s requirements for you. We instruct American Red Cross Pediatric First Aid CPR AED certification classes in Contra Costa County because it’s their preferred certification.
Q: Are you now issuing eCards for CPR certifications in Contra Costa County?
A: Yes, eCards are now replacing the traditional paper CPR certification cards in Contra Costa County. It’s a much better approach in our opinion. Over the years we have replaced hundreds of lost or destroyed CPR cards. With eCards you always have access to your AHA, Red Cross or ASHI First Aid and CPR certification. Your certification can be printed like a traditional paper card or it can be downloaded as a PDF file. You can email your CPR card to whomever needs to verify your certification.
Q: I want to get CPR certified, but I heard there is a written test. Is that true?
A: There is no written test to get CPR certified in Contra Costa County. ASHI and American Red Cross CPR certification courses focus on understanding skills via a DVD and the instructor, along with plenty of hands-on practice.
Q: Do you know the Contra Costa County CPR certification and First Aid class requirements for my industry?
A: Yes, we view part of our job to know the First Aid and CPR AED certification requirements for Contra Costa County industries. Whether you’re a preschool that needs an American Red Cross Pediatric First Aid CPR AED certification class or a dental office that needs a BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR certification, we will make sure you get the correct First Aid and CPR certification for your industry.
Q: Do you teach Contra Costa County onsite CPR certification classes?
A: Yes, our specialty is coming to businesses and homes to teach on-site CPR classes. We bring all of the training equipment – you just need to provide a space for our class.
