Frequently Asked Questions About Danville CPR Classes

Q: What is the advantage of having a CPR class at my business? Currently, we send our staff to a local classroom in Danville with scheduled CPR classes.

A: Most of our instructors are EMTs and Paramedics who have years of arriving at businesses via a 911 call. It’s not uncommon for them to find the victim’s co-workers panicking, disorganized and sometimes even arguing about how to help. When company employees do not train together, they’re frequently not on the same page about how to respond. When we come to your Danville business for a First Aid, CPR or BLS class, we will train your staff how to respond as a group in your office. It’s the best way to prepare your staff to provide First Aid or CPR for a coworker.

Q: When I think of first aid, I think of how to handle bleeding and burns, but I know it must include more, right?

A: The first aid training classes we teach in Danville cover much more than cuts and burns. We instruct American Red Cross First Aid and ASHI certification courses. They include responding to seizures, broken bones, strokes, heart attacks, allergic reactions, how to use an epi-pen, poisonings, and temperature-related emergencies. We also offer pediatric first aid classes for licensed childcare centers in Danville and non-certification infant first aid classes for new and expecting parents.

Q: I did an online-only BLS CPR renewal certification class and my Danville work supervisor rejected it. Why!?

A: Never do an online-only BLS certification class. Those certifications are not accepted by any healthcare organization. And they shouldn’t be! You need to practice the skills of that course to be able to perform them in a real medical emergency. We teach the American Heart Association’s BLS Provider CPR certification course. It’s the required certification for anyone who works in a clinic or hospital in Danville. The AHA now has an approach called, “blended learning” that allows you to do a lot of the course online, but you still need to have a BLS “skills session” with an instructor. It’s usually 1 to 1.5 hours of hands-on practice time with the CPR manikins, AED trainers and BVMs. It results in the same BLS certification as doing the entire course in-person with an instructor. Ask us about blended learning.

Q: How quickly will I get my American Heart Association BLS certification card for my Danville class?

A: If our instructor has access to the internet, they can process your BLS certification immediately. The AHA is now using eCards, instead of the paper certification cards we are all used to. It’s a big improvement. You can print your BLS certification, but also download it and email it to whomever needs to verify it, as well as save it as a PDF file to store on your phone or laptop.

Q: Do you teach infant CPR classes at Danville homes?

A: Yes, we do. We also teach them at hospitals like California Pacific Medical Center. Our CPR Essentials course is a non-certification course that covers infant CPR and airway issues such as choking, drowning, suffocation, seizures and allergies. We also cover basic first aid topics such as bleeding, burns and falls.

Q: We need a First Aid class in Danville for our preschool. How do we make sure we’re fulfilling our licensing requirements?

A: We will make sure you’re getting the correct First Aid certification class for your daycare or preschool. We know the EMSA’s requirements for you. We instruct American Red Cross Pediatric First Aid CPR AED certification classes in Danville because it’s their preferred certification.

Q: I see you offer CPR AED certification classes for Danville. What does AED mean?

A: We have all seen a person being defibrillated with paddles on TV medical shows. With advances in technology, now everybody can use a defibrillator called an AED – Automated External Defibrillator. When the AED is turned on it talks the user through what to do. Instead of paddles, sticky pads are applied to the victim’s chest and then the AED analyzes the victim to determine if they need a shock to get their heart beating normally. They are surprisingly easy to use and widely available for the public to use in airports, malls, gyms and sports stadiums. For our CPR AED classes in Danville, we bring practice AEDs so you will be prepared to use one if needed.

Q: Do you sell AEDs to your Danville clients?

A: Yes.  We offer discounted prices on AEDs and AEDs accessories for our First Aid, BLS and ACLS and CPR Danville class clients. More and more businesses are purchasing AEDs because the manufacturing costs have dropped. Feel free to ask us about buying an AED.

Q: How long are your Danville first aid and CPR classes?

A: First aid certification classes are 2.5 hours. CPR AED certification classes are 2.5 hours. If you have more than eight people for your CPR class, plan on 3 hours. Since there is some overlap in the course material between the two segments, plan on 4.5 to 5 hours. There is another approach called blended learning that results in the same certification. Your group does some of the course online ahead of time. Then our instructor comes to your group in Danville for the hands-on practice portion of the class called a skills session. A CPR skills session takes about 1 hour. First aid adds another hour.

As an independent businesswoman, it was refreshing to work with someone who believes as I do:that punctuality, professionalism, kindness, and good customer relations are worthy goals to achieve.

I recently completed a CPR class with Chris, and I urge anyone who is interested in taking a CPR class to take Chris’ class; you’ll be happy you did. Chris is a natural teacher, and he has an easy going and very likable personality.
