Frequently Asked Questions About San Bruno CPR Classes

Q: You teach CPR classes at San Bruno businesses and homes? How does this work?

A: In Home CPR was started on the idea of making it easier to take a CPR class in San Bruno or any other city in the Bay Area. We bring all of the training and audio/visual equipment – you just need to provide a space for our class. We have several mobile instructors, so when you have a couple dates and start times in mind for your First Aid, CPR, ACLS or BLS certification class, let us know, and we will find a day and start times that works for both of us.

Q: What is the advantage of having a CPR class at my business? Currently, we send our staff to a local classroom in San Bruno with scheduled CPR classes?

A: Many of our instructors are EMTs and Paramedics who have years of arriving at businesses via a 911 call. It’s not uncommon for them to find the victim’s co-workers panicked, disorganized and sometimes even arguing about how to help. When company employees do not train together, they’re frequently not on the same page about how to respond. When we come to your San Bruno business for a First Aid, CPR or BLS class, we will train your staff how to respond as a group in your office. It’s the best way to prepare your staff to do provide First Aid or CPR for a co-worker.

A: Do your First Aid certification classes meet OSHA’s requirements for San Bruno?

Q: Yes, we instruct American Red Cross First Aid classes in San Bruno because OSHA accepts that certification to fulfill its First Aid certification requirements.

Q: I was told I need a BLS CPR class for my work in San Bruno. What is BLS?

A: We instruct American Heart Association’s BLS Provider CPR classes in San Bruno. It’s a confusing class name and often gets spoken or written in shorter or longer versions of the official title. It’s the CPR certification for everyone who works in healthcare or is a healthcare student. BLS stands for “Basic Life Support”. The title “Healthcare” was recently removed from the name, so you will see “BLS for Healthcare Providers” still printed as the name of the course – and we still include it in our website to cue people in that’s the class for healthcare professionals.

Q: Do your classes fulfill EMSA requirements for licensed childcare teachers in San Bruno?

A: Yes! In Home CPR travels to preschools, daycares and childcare centers around the Bay Area teaching the American Red Cross Pediatric First Aid CPR AED certification course. There is a lot of confusion around the EMSA sticker being on a certification card. Red Cross and American Heart Association certifications are exempt from needing that sticker. Their certification courses are the industry standard so the EMSA does not require the sticker. Any other organization’s certification must be approved by the EMSA, and if approved the EMSA sticker is the required to be placed on the certification card to show its acceptance. This is why In Home CPR exclusively teaches American Red Cross and American Heart Association certification courses in San Bruno.

Q: I want to learn Infant CPR in my San Bruno home, but don’t need a certification class. Do you teach that?

A: Yes, we do! Our CPR Essentials class is a non-certification class designed for new and expecting parents. It covers infant CPR as well as basic first aid topics such as burns, falls and bleeding. The focus of the class is airway issues such as choking, drowning, seizures, suffocation and allergies because that’s often the cause that leads to needing to do CPR for a baby. We also cover how to talk to a 911 Operator while providing care for your baby in a medical emergency.

Q: How quickly can I get my certification card my CPR class?

A: We’re now issuing eCards instead of the traditional paper First Aid, CPR and BLS certification cards in San Bruno. eCards are far more versatile than paper cards. Also, we can immediately issue them at your class. eCards can be printed like traditional paper card and also downloaded as a PDF file to store on your phone or computer.

Q: How long are your San Bruno first aid and CPR classes?

A: First aid certification classes are 2.5 hours. CPR AED certification classes are 2.5 hours. If you have more than eight people for your CPR class plan on 3 hours. Since there is some overlap in the course material between the two segments, so plan on 4.5 to 5 hours. There is another approach called blended learning that results in the same certification. Your group does some of the course online ahead of time. Then our instructor comes to your group in San Bruno for the hands-on practice portion of the class called a skills session. A CPR skills session takes about 1 hour. First aid adds another hour.

Q: Do you sell AEDs to your San Bruno clients?

A: Yes. We offer discounted prices on AEDs and AEDs accessories for our First Aid, BLS and ACLS CPR class clients. More and more San Bruno businesses are purchasing AEDs because the manufacturing costs have dropped. Feel free to ask us about buying an AED.

My family had the pleasure of having Chris teach us a class that, in my opinion, is not an option if you choose to have children – it’s mandatory.

Lori Costabile

As an independent businesswoman, it was refreshing to work with someone who believes as I do:that punctuality, professionalism, kindness, and good customer relations are worthy goals to achieve.

Sornam Sahadevan

I recently completed a CPR class with Chris, and I urge anyone who is interested in taking a CPR class to take Chris’ class; you’ll be happy you did. Chris is a natural teacher, and he has an easy going and very likable personality.
