Frequently Asked Questions About Concord CPR Classes

Q: What are the qualifications of the instructors who will be coming to my Concord home or business for my CPR class?

A: All of our instructors are medical professionals. Most have worked professionally in ambulances as EMTs and Paramedics. We also have RNs. All of them take pride in the quality of their Concord First Aid, CPR and BLS classes. Our classes are interactive and questions are encouraged, so ask our instructors to give you extra knowledge on the First Aid and CPR topics most important to you.

Q: Do you teach First Aid Training in Concord?

A: Yes, we offer American Red Cross First Aid and ASHI certification classes in Concord. People know they should take a CPR class, but first aid training is often overlooked. Eventually all of us either experience or respond to bleeding, burns, falls and broken bones. It’s good to know how to properly respond when a loved one needs your help or you need to help yourself.

Q: I was told I need a BLS CPR class for my work in Concord. What is BLS?

A: We instruct American Heart Association’s BLS Provider CPR classes in Concord.  It’s a confusing class name and often gets spoken or written in shorter or longer versions of the official title.  It’s the CPR certification for everyone who works in healthcare or is a healthcare student.  BLS stands for “Basic Life Support”. The title “Healthcare” was recently removed from the name, so you will see “BLS for Healthcare Providers” still printed as the name of the course – and we still include it in our website to cue people in that it’s the class for healthcare professionals.

Q: I want to take a Concord infant CPR class at my home. Can I schedule that with you?

A: Yes, we can schedule an infant First Aid & CPR class at your Concord home seven days a week, including evenings. All of our instructors are medical professionals. Your baby is welcome to be there with you during our class. In Home CPR was started to make it easier to take a class when you’re pregnant or have an infant.

Q: What is the EMSA required certification for my Concord childcare staff?

A: We instruct American Red Cross Pediatric First Aid CPR AED courses for state licensed daycare, preschool and childcare centers. This, along with the American Heart Association’s certification, are the EMSA’s referred Pediatric First Aid CPR AED certifications for Concord.

Q: I want to learn how to use an AED and it looks like I can buy one through In Home CPR. Is that true?

A: Yes, we have a relationship with an AED wholesalers and purchase AEDs for our Concord CPR class clients. Our instructors will show you how to use an AED while doing CPR during your class.

Q: You teach CPR classes at Concord businesses and homes? How does this work?

A: In Home CPR was started with the idea of making it easier to take a CPR class. We bring all of the training and audio/visual equipment – you just need to provide a space for our class. We have several mobile instructors, so when you have a couple dates and start times in mind for your Concord First Aid, CPR, ACLS or BLS certification class, let us know, and we will find a day and start times that works for both of us.

Q: What topics are covered in a Concord CPR certification class?

A: Concord CPR training classes are more than just learning CPR. First, you learn to assess a person who needs help and determine if they need CPR. CPR training includes how to do CPR for adults, children and infants. However, you can exclude particular age groups from your CPR training. For example, if the required CPR certification you need only applies to training in adult CPR, you can choose to skip pediatric CPR. The class also includes training to respond to choking and training to use an AED – an Automated External defibrillator.

Q: How long are your Concord first aid and CPR classes?

A: First aid certification classes are 2.5 hours. CPR AED certification classes are 2.5 hours. If you have more than eight people for your CPR class, plan on 3 hours. Since there is some overlap in the course material between the two segments, plan on 4.5 to 5 hours. There is another approach called blended learning that results in the same certification. Your group does some of the course online ahead of time. Then our instructor comes to your group in Concord for the hands-on practice portion of the class called a skills session. A CPR skills session takes about 1 hour. First aid adds another hour.

My family had the pleasure of having Chris teach us a class that, in my opinion, is not an option if you choose to have children – it’s mandatory.

I recently completed a CPR class with Chris, and I urge anyone who is interested in taking a CPR class to take Chris’ class; you’ll be happy you did. Chris is a natural teacher, and he has an easy going and very likable personality.
