Frequently Asked Questions About Sonoma County CPR Classes

Q: What is a Sonoma County In Home CPR class? Do you also come to businesses in Sonoma County?

A: Our company was started with the idea of making it more convenient for people in Sonoma County to take a CPR, First Aid, BLS or ACLS class. Our instructors are all EMTs, Paramedics and RNs who will bring all of the training equipment to you for your class. You just need to provide a space for your class. Outdoor classes are fine, too.

Q: Do you cover allergic reactions and using an Epi-Pen in your Sonoma County First Aid classes?

A: Yes, responding to airway emergencies is an important part of all Sonoma County First Aid training classes: not only Epi-Pen use, but choking, suffocation, and poisoning. First Aid classes cover many topics: bleeding, burns, recognizing the signs of a heart attack and stroke, diabetic emergencies, falls, concussions, heat and cold emergencies, and many more!

Q: Do you instruct the American Heart Association’s BLS certification class in Sonoma County?

A: Yes, the AHA’s BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR certification in Sonoma County is often the required CPR certification if you work in a clinic or hospital. If you are a student in healthcare, you are also required to have a BLS certification.

Q: How quickly will I get my American Heart Association BLS certification card for my Sonoma County class?

A: If our instructor has access to the internet, they can process your BLS certification immediately. The AHA is now using eCards, instead of the paper certification cards we are all used to. It’s a big improvement. You can print your BLS certification, but also download it and email it to whoever needs to verify it, as well as save it as a PDF file to store on your phone or laptop.

Q: I want an infant CPR class at my Sonoma County home. Can my baby be present during the class?

A: Yes! Every year we instruct hundreds of infant CPR classes in Sonoma County and other Bay Area cities.  We’re very used to having babies present during classes and we understand if you need to take a break to tend to your baby. Unlike a class in a classroom with other students, infant CPR classes in your home are ideal because it’s just your family and the instructor. Many of our instructors have children, so we know the challenges of arranging for babysitters. Don’t sweat it – your baby is welcome to join us!

Q: What is the difference between Infant CPR and Child CPR in a Sonoma County CPR certification class?

A: Infants are defined as one-year-old and under in a First Aid & CPR class. A child Is one-year-old up to puberty. Pediatric First Aid & CPR classes for licensed childcare facilities in Sonoma County cover child CPR and infant CPR. Adult CPR is also covered because most often CPR is performed on adults because of cardiac issues.

Q: I want to get CPR certified, but I heard there is a written test. Is that true?

A: There is no written test to get CPR certified in Sonoma County. ASHI and American Red Cross CPR certification courses focus on understanding skills via a DVD and the instructor, along with plenty of hands-on practice.

Q: Do you do on-line ACLS classes for people in Sonoma County?

A: The American Heart Association allows students to do most of their ACLS course online.  Then our instructor comes to your Sonoma County business or home to do an ACLS Skills Sessions – running a megacode and practicing airway skills. Anyone who has taken an ACLS certification class knows it’s a long class! Many of our long-time ACLS students really like the online/in-person approach to renewing their ACLS certification.

My family had the pleasure of having Chris teach us a class that, in my opinion, is not an option if you choose to have children – it’s mandatory.

Lori Costabile

I recently completed a CPR class with Chris, and I urge anyone who is interested in taking a CPR class to take Chris’ class; you’ll be happy you did. Chris is a natural teacher, and he has an easy going and very likable personality.
