Frequently Asked Questions About Citrus Heights CPR Classes

Q: I’m interested in having you teach a class at my business or home in Citrus Heights. How do I schedule that?

A: Contact us if you’re ready to schedule a CPR, BLS or First Aid class at Citrus Heights business or home or if you have questions about what class you need. We teach ASHI and American Red Cross Certification classes for CPR AED, First Aid and Pediatric First Aid. We also instruct American Heart Association certification classes for healthcare professionals: BLS for Healthcare Providers and ACLS. We also teach non-certification infant CPR and First Aid classes for new and expecting parents. In short, we bring all of the training and audio/visual equipment to your location – you just need to provide a room for our class. If you know which class you need, contact us with a couple dates and start times that work for your group. We have many mobile instructors, so we will find a day/start time that works for both of us.

Q: What are the qualifications of the instructors who will be coming to my Citrus Heights home or business for my CPR class?

A: All of our instructors are medical professionals. Most have worked professionally in ambulances as EMTs and Paramedics. We also have RNs. All of them take pride in the quality of their Citrus Heights First Aid, CPR and BLS classes. Our classes are interactive and questions are encouraged, so ask our instructors to give you extra knowledge on the First Aid and CPR topics most important to you.

Q: What is covered in a Citrus Heights First Aid training class at my business or home?

A: First Aid training covers bleeding, burns, bites, falls, concussions, allergic reactions and how to use an epi-pen, recognizing strokes and heart attacks, heat and cold emergencies, diabetes, asthma, broken bones and responding to choking. Our instruction style for Citrus Heights First Aid certificate classes is very interactive, so always let us know what topics are important to you and our instructor will spend extra time during your class covering them.

Q: I work in healthcare in Citrus Heights. Am I required to take a BLS class?

A: If you work in healthcare or are a healthcare student, you are required to have a BLS Provider certification. California hospitals and clinics follow American Heart Association CPR guidelines and often require a BLS Provider certification — and will not accept any other organization’s certification. Other healthcare industries that require BLS certifications include dentists, physical and occupational therapists. We always instruct American Heart Association BLS certification classes in Citrus Heights offices.

Q: I want to take an infant CPR class with my entire family at my home in Citrus Heights. Is that possible?

A: Yes, that’s what we specialize in! Everyone who will be caring for your baby can train together to respond to the most common pediatric medical emergencies: choking, drowning, suffocation, allergic reactions, seizures and many more topics.

Q: Do babysitters and nannies need the same Citrus Heights Pediatric First Aid & CPR certification as childcare and preschool teachers?

A: They do not. Babysitters and nannies are not regulated by the EMSA – the agency that requires First Aid & CPR AED certifications for licensed childcare facilities in Citrus Heights. However, many parents like the idea that the person caring for their infant, toddler or child has CPR and First Aid training. So if you are coming to homes to take care of children, it could improve your chance of being hired if you can show a First Aid & CPR certification.

Q: I want to learn how to use an AED and it looks like I can buy one through In Home CPR. Is that true?

A: Yes, we have a relationship with an AED wholesalers and purchase AEDs for our Citrus Heights CPR class clients. Our instructors will show you how to use an AED while doing CPR during your class.

Q: Can I do my CPR class online first, and then you come to my Citrus Heights location for practicing the skills?

A: You can do part of your First Aid, ACLS, BLS or CPR class online, but you still need to have to do a “skills session” with us to receive your certification. The American Heart Association ASHI, and the American Red Cross have quality interactive online courses. After completing the online course, our instructor comes to your Citrus Heights business or home to practice the skills you learned about online – practicing with the CPR manikins and first aid supplies. For example, if our instructor teaches an entire Red Cross First Aid CPR AED course at your Citrus Heights business or home, it will take about 4.5 to 5 hours. With the blended learning approach, the online portion takes most people between 2 to 3 hours, but this varies on people’s reading speed and familiarity with the course material. The skills session takes between 1.5 and 2 hours. This approach results in the same certification.

My family had the pleasure of having Chris teach us a class that, in my opinion, is not an option if you choose to have children – it’s mandatory.

Lori Costabile

I recently completed a CPR class with Chris, and I urge anyone who is interested in taking a CPR class to take Chris’ class; you’ll be happy you did. Chris is a natural teacher, and he has an easy going and very likable personality.
