Frequently Asked Questions About Brentwood CPR Classes

Q: Does In Home CPR really come to my home or business to teach a class in Brentwood? Do I need to provide any resources to make this happen?

A: Our instructor will bring all of the CPR and First Aid training and audio/visual equipment to your Brentwood home or business. You only need to provide a space for our class.

Q: Do you cover allergic reactions and using an Epi-Pen in your Brentwood First Aid classes?

A: Yes, responding to airway emergencies is an important part of all Brentwood First Aid training classes: not only Epi-Pen use, but choking, suffocation, and poisoning. First Aid classes cover many topics: bleeding, burns, recognizing the signs of a heart attack and stroke, diabetic emergencies, falls, concussions, heat and cold emergencies, and many more!

Q: Which professions are required to get a Brentwood BLS certification – the CPR certification for healthcare professionals?

A: First off, always ask us if you’re not sure which certification you or your staff is required to have. We know CPR certification job requirements. These professions are required to have a BLS certification in Brentwood: RN, CNA, Medical Assistant, Dentist, Dental Hygienist, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Respiratory Therapist, Medical Technician, EMT, Paramedic. There are other professions that need a BLS certification, so feel free to ask us.

Q: Do you teach infant CPR classes at Brentwood homes?

A: Yes, we do. We also teach them at hospitals like California Pacific Medical Center. Our CPR Essentials course is a non-certification course that covers infant CPR and airway issues such as choking, drowning, suffocation, seizures and allergies. We also cover basic first aid topics such as bleeding, burns and falls.

Q: What is the difference between Infant CPR and Child CPR in a Brentwood CPR certification class?

A: Infants are defined as one-year-old and under in a First Aid & CPR class. A child Is one-year-old up to puberty. Pediatric First Aid & CPR classes for licensed childcare facilities in Brentwood cover child CPR and infant CPR. Adult CPR is also covered because the most often CPR performed is on adults because of cardiac issues.

Q: I see you offer CPR AED certification classes for Brentwood. What does AED mean?

A: We have all seen a person being defibrillated with paddles on TV medical shows. With advances in technology, now everybody can use a defibrillator called an AED – Automated External Defibrillator. When the AED is turned on it talks the user through what to do. Instead of paddles, sticky pads are applied to the victim’s chest and then the AED analyzes the victim to determine if they need a shock to get their heart beating normally. They are surprisingly easy to use and widely available for the public to use in airports, malls, gyms and sports stadiums. For our CPR AED classes in Brentwood, we bring practice AEDs so you will be prepared to use one if needed.

Q: Are you now issuing eCards for CPR certifications in Brentwood?

A: Yes, eCards are now replacing the traditional paper CPR certification cards in Brentwood. It’s a much better approach in our opinion. Over the years we have replaced hundreds of lost or destroyed CPR cards. With eCards you always have access to your AHA, Red Cross or ASHI First Aid and CPR certification. Your certification can be printed like a traditional paper card or it can be downloaded as a PDF file. You can email your CPR card to whomever needs to verify your certification.

Q: Can I do my CPR class entirely on-line?

A: If you need your certification to meet a job requirement, the answer is very likely no. There are numerous on-line advertisements for on-line only CPR classes. We frequently get calls from people who took an online-class, submitted it to their Brentwood company supervisor and were told the certification does not meet their requirements. OSHA, the EMSA and other organizations that make sure industries are meeting safety requirements are very clear individuals need to practice CPR, BLS and First Aid skills in Brentwood as part of their certification.

My family had the pleasure of having Chris teach us a class that, in my opinion, is not an option if you choose to have children – it’s mandatory.

Lori Costabile

I recently completed a CPR class with Chris, and I urge anyone who is interested in taking a CPR class to take Chris’ class; you’ll be happy you did. Chris is a natural teacher, and he has an easy going and very likable personality.
